Starting from the premise of being able to develop a utility system within the framework of olive plantations, which guarantees the health of this type of plantation while improving its management, allowing to obtain a decision-making system, it has been developed the SACROPS project (system for the detection of pests and diseases, yield prediction and determination of fruit maturity in olive cultivation).
By capturing, analyzing and processing hyperspectral images throughout the olive’s ripening cycle, the developed system is capable of:
- Identify different pests and diseases that affect this crop
- To be able to predict the yields that the farmer will obtain in each harvest
- Calculate the fruit’s ripening index, in order to determine the optimum harvest point and to be able to make the appropriate decisions about the management of the olive grove and anticipate the fertilization and irrigation operations
